Security & Privilege

Your documents stay on your Veridis appliance.

No cloud. No training on your data. No exceptions. Privilege is the default — not a setting.

1 — Architecture

Local-first, by construction.

1.1

On-premise hardware

Veridis ships as a managed appliance, installed in your office. Models, indexes, and document store live on the device. No firm data ever leaves your network.

1.2

No outbound document traffic

Inference runs locally. Updates are pulled by the device on a schedule you control; document content is never sent outward — not to us, not to a model provider.

1.3

Encrypted at rest

FileVault enabled by default. Per-matter encryption keys. Hardened lockdown profile installed at delivery.

1.4

Audit trail

Every query, every output, every reviewer assignment is logged locally. Exportable for malpractice insurance review.

2 — Trust statement

We do not have a cloud copy of your documents. We could not produce one if subpoenaed. The architecture makes the promise verifiable, not just stated.

3 — Frequently asked

Questions partners ask first.

Does any document content leave the firm's network?
No. Indexing, retrieval, and reasoning all happen on the appliance. The device only contacts our servers to receive software updates and to verify its license — neither of those operations transmits document content.
Do you train on our data?
No. There is no mechanism by which your documents reach our training pipeline. The on-device models are pre-trained; they do not learn from your firm's content.
What about attorney-client privilege?
Because all processing is local and we have no access to the documents, the privilege is not waived by sending material to a third-party cloud — there is no third-party cloud.
How are software updates delivered?
The appliance pulls signed updates on a schedule you control. You can defer or audit any update. Updates ship binaries; they do not ship or request your data.
What happens if the device fails?
We ship a replacement appliance overnight. Your indexes and documents are recoverable from your firm's existing backup process — Veridis stores them on a partition you control.
Is there a security brief PDF we can share with our IT and insurance?
Yes. Email hello@veridis.law and we will send the current version, NDA optional.

Take the brief to your IT.
